Today every one wants to be fit. They want good a physique so their surrounding people praise them or take motivation from them or they want to be fit for themself.

But Have you ever question yourself to whom you going to call a fit person.

Are you are a type of person who calls a bodybuilder fit because they are in perfect shape or have muscles in their body. then according to this point bodybuilders are the fittest creatures in this universe but maximum heart attack happens to a person who goes gym.

Or if you thinks that marathoners, swimmers and cyclists have a very good stamina so they are the fittest then my friend you are again guessing it wrong.

And if you think that palying a game makes you fit than according to this point footballers, cricketrs etc players are the fittest but sorry you are wrong.

For different persons fitness defination are different.

BUT IN GENERAL FITNESS IS THE ABILITY OF ANY PERSON TO DO ALL DAY TO DAY LIFE ACTIVITIES EFFICIENTLY.

FOR EXAMPLE IF A LADY CAN NOT ABLE TO CLIMB THIRD FLOOR OF A BUILDING AND SHE HAVE TO TAKE SUPPORT OF A LIFT BUT WITH GOOD DIET AND IN RIGHT GUIDENCE OF TRAINER SOMEDAY SHE ABLE TO CLIMB THAT THIRD FLOOR WITH HERSELF WITHOUT ANY HELP, THAN SHE PROUDLY CALL HERSELF FIT IN COMPARISON WITH OTHERS OF HER AGE.

There are so many people who want this type of fitness from which they will able to perform their daily functional movement without any help like walking without stick, doing their daily household works in pregenancy etc so they can enjoy their life.

To achieve them you need a proper guidence in which I can help you .

So as far now I have talk about general fitness but now to clear a myth of many people that a bodybuider is fit because he have muscles or a marthoner is fit because he can run 21 km easily.

There are 5 components of fitness. Persons who fulfills all these components than we call him a fit person.

Let us talk these components one by one.

CARDIO RESPIRATORY ENDURANCE.

Cardio respiratory endurance is the ability of heart and lungs to support oxygenated blood to muscles for a prolonged period of time without getting fatique. If your body can do this than you have a good cardio respiratory endurance.

you can improve by activities which involves challenge for lungs and heart continouslylike running, swimming ,spinning, skipping etc.

MUSCULAR ENDURANCE.

Muscular endurance is the ability of skeletal muscle to contract for prolonged period of time without getting fatique. If it is compromised than you will get cramps , fatque, burning sensation while skipping, walking etc.

It is activity specific.

WHAT IS ACTIVITY SPECIFIC?

Activity specific means if a person uses his cardio respiratory endurance in every activity but can not have good muscular endurance in every activity. Thats why one must train in different activities!

Example- If ram have good muscular endurance in running but he can not able to use this running muscular endurance in swimming as well because both activities involves different target muscles.

But in both activities ram can use his cardio respiratory endurance.

MUSCULO-SKELETAL STRENGTH.

Musculo-skeletal strength is the ability of skeletal muscle to generate maximum force in one contraction, but this contraction depends on your bone density, strength of tendomand ligaments as well.

If your muscle able to lift good weight in one contraction but your bone density is poor then that weight will cause fracture.

If musculo-skeletal strength is compromised than you can not lift more weight.

But it also degenerate at a faster rate if you not train movements. High resistance training like weight training improves musculo-skeletal strength.

FLEXIBILITY.

Flexibility is the ability of the body to move joints effectively through complete range of motion.

You can increase your flexibility by two types of streches:

  • Dynamic streches
  • Static streches

WHEN TO DO DYNAMIC STRECHES?

You have to perform it before your workouts, so that proper blood circulation reaches to your joints and you can train injury free.

WHEN TO DO STATIC STRECHES?

You have to do it after your workout. And can be done 2 to 4 times with 15 to 30 second hold.

YOGA IMPROVES FLEXIBILITY.

IDEAL BODY COMPOSITION.

Ideal body composition means sum of lean body mass and adipose tissue in humans.

Lean body mass consists of muscles, tendoms, ligaments, bones, organs, water, essential body fat and others.

Adipose tissue consists of fat cells which stored in our body unnecessarily.

Minimal essential body fat for males 2% to 5% anf for females 10% to 13%.

As far as fitness concerned acceptable upper limit body fat including adipose tissue for males 15% and for females 20%(this is maximum limit to be in Ideal body composition).

CONCLUSION:

Now you have seen all fitness components. After reading all these components lets come to the discussion we are talking about that a bodybuilder is fit . Yes he may have good muscular endurance and musculo-skeletal strength but he lacks in cardio respiratory endurance so he is not called to be fit.

And a marathoner may have good cardio respiratory endurance but he lacks in musculo- skeletal strength.

so you only say a person fit if he or she fulfills all 5 components of fitness.
